Our Programme Manager recently joined the Consultation Meeting on the Global Alliance Against Racism and Discriminations at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris (10–11 December 2025). This important initiative brought together experts, policymakers, and activists from around the world to strategise on how a global alliance can effectively combat racism and discrimination in all its forms.
The two day meeting was packed with interactive sessions and discussions. Participants explored various ways the Alliance could operate, focusing on governance, partnerships, engagement, communication, and measuring impact. Our Programme Manager reflected on the day, saying:
“We’re in the planning meeting for how the Global Alliance will work, and I’m excited to see how we can leverage this alliance to confront the most prevalent form of discrimination – racism.”
The meeting also defined immediate objectives and identified collaborative strategies to strengthen the Alliance, particularly in response to the current global political climate. This work is crucial to making sure that the Alliance not only sets ambitious goals but also implements tangible, coordinated action against racism worldwide.
The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation is proud to contribute South Africa’s perspective and experience to this global initiative. We thank UNESCO for convening this vital conversation, which will continue to shape and evolve over the coming months.
