Are you ready to lead change in your community?
The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation Youth Leadership & Activism Programme (YLAP) is here to empower young people between the ages of 14 and 25 to stand up, speak out, and make a difference.
Through youth clubs across communities, we create safe, exciting, and supportive spaces where young people come together to learn, lead, and take action. Whether it’s tackling social issues, driving campaigns, or building leadership skills, YLAP gives you the tools to shape the future.
Why Join a Youth Club?
By being part of YLAP, you’ll:
- Build your leadership and advocacy skills in interactive workshops
- Be part of campaigns that challenge injustice and bring about change
- Join dialogues and symposiums where your voice matters
- Participate in youth summits and councils that amplify young perspectives
- Spark conversations through community screenings and events
- Grow your network at our annual leadership camps
Our Vision
As part of the Ahmed Kathrada Centenary Project, we’re on a mission to build 100 active youth clubs by 2029. Each club reflects the values that Ahmed Kathrada lived by: justice, non-racialism, democracy, and accountability.

Ahmed Kathrada believed in the power of young people to transform society. YLAP is about carrying that vision forward, and you can be part of it.
