The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation strongly condemns Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla in international waters. This action is a grave violation of international law, undermines global solidarity, and blocks desperately needed humanitarian aid destined for Gaza.
We stand with the courageous activists who continue to risk their lives to deliver aid and to assert the principles of justice, peace, and human dignity. Their abduction by Israeli forces is unjustifiable and must be met with international outrage.
We fully support the calls made by President Cyril Ramaphosa for the immediate release of all abducted South Africans and other nationals, and for the safe delivery of the Flotilla’s life-saving cargo. We also stand with President Ramaphosa in endorsing the call by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for Israel to urgently lift the blockade on Gaza and allow the entry of life-saving material through all means possible.
The Foundation reiterates its solidarity with Palestine and calls on the global community to intensify efforts to break the siege, end the ongoing genocide, uphold international law, and advance the cause of peace.
Stand with the Flotilla. Stand with Palestine.
Keep your #EyesOnTheFlotilla and amplify their call for freedom.
