The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation (AKF) is seeking to appoint an Administrator, to support an SJI funded project on community activism with links to the themes of enhanced transparency, addressing corruption and mismanagement, strengthening civil society and building accountable future leaders.
The Administrator will be responsible for all administrative matters related to the project. This will include among others:
• coordination of the activities of the JCA,
• budget management,
• scheduling of events and activities of the JCA,
• record keeping and reporting,
• mapping community organizations,
• communications with JCA members and partners
• establishing and maintaining a database of organizations within the city,
• monitoring and tracking activities of the City of Joburg
• Monitoring media reports related to the CoJ
The AKF offers a competitive salary package in relation to the hours of work required.
The project allows for hybrid working arrangements to be negotiated between the successful candidate and the employer.
Applicants should have:
• A Matric certificate. NQF Level 4 or above.
• A proven track record of working within local communities.
• Good understanding of the socio-political context in South Africa, and in the City of Johannesburg in particular, including a good understanding of the broad framework for government service delivery in the country.
• Ability to build and manage relationships with business and civil society organizations within the City of Johannesburg.
• Familiarity / experience with reporting procedures to donors/clients/stakeholders to ensure compliance with internal governance and controls and external reporting requirements.
• Excellent writing, record keeping and reporting skills
• Excellent communication skills. Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. Familiarity with at least two of the other official languages would be a plus.

• Applicants should list in detail community work or projects they have supported, and what function/role they have played in these.
• Kindly include 3 references with contact details and a note outlining the relationship of the referee to the applicant (e.g., previous employer, or client).
At least one of these references should be able to vouch for work the applicant has undertaken in the last two years.
