Position: Youth Activism Programme- Youth Club Organiser
Job summary and Responsibilities:
To organise and support youth clubs to grow, develop and expand their reach and impact in
each community.
To facilitate and support the skills and leadership development of club members.
To research and assist clubs in executing effective campaigns targeted at issues that exist within
the community that need addressing.
To organise and mobilise youth for AKF programmes and events.
To develop an effective club structure, following the club constitution, and ensure all clubs are
democratically run, in addition to conducting election of office bearers in each club.
To harness the full potential of members and find ways to support their growth.
To support overall objectives of the programme that focuses on civic education and human
rights education.
To work with community organisations, leaders and other community groups to organise youth
and promote the ideals and values of the AKF.
To research and support club campaigns in order to build a mass based organisation of youth
that is civically active.
To use social media and online platforms such as Zoom, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and twitter
for promoting youth club work and individuals.
To promote a culture of learning within the youth activism programme.
Skills and knowledge required:
Ability to work under pressure, multi task and have good time management skills
Knowledge of social justice issues and youth activism, a qualification in Community/youth
development, Education, Politics, and/or social sciences is advantageous
Self-motivated and driven with a proactive approach to problem solving
Good administrative, analytical, writing, facilitation and presentation skills
Experience in education and training methods (Popular education experience is advantageous)
Ability to lead projects, campaigns and programmes with good organizational and planning skills
Ability to write proposals, reports and pay attention to detail
Good online technical and social media skills
Computer skills (word, excel, PowerPoint) and other virtual platforms like zoom, teams etc
Interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people across diverse backgrounds, and
communicate clearly
Ability to work well independently and in a team
Create, maintain and develop effective working relationships with colleagues and external
partners
A valid driver’s license is advantageous
General
Keep abreast of all political and social developments relevant to work of the foundation.
Be familiar with the history of the founder of the foundation and in SA history in general.
Represent the Foundation in various public and civil society meetings
Place of work:
The AKF offices based in Lenasia, and all areas where the youth clubs are based (across the
province of Gauteng)
Salary:
A salary of R180 000 p.a. (All inclusive)
