The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation has noted the allegations of racism at Willowmead Secondary School in Lenasia South.
This follows protest action by a group of teachers who have accused the principal of making racist statements.
The Foundation however, understands that members of the SGB are reported to have denied the allegations levelled against the principal.
Neeshan Balton, the Foundation’s director, welcomed the immediate intervention and investigation by the Gauteng Department of Education.
“It is the start of the new year and we cannot have a situation where the matter is prolonged, disrupting learning and teaching. We urge all parties to give the relevant authorities time and space to deal with the issue,” Balton said. “It is imperative that it is resolved as a matter of urgency.”
