Job summary:
- To develop and implement an activist education and training programme for
the AKF youth clubs and their members. - To run popular education training across all AKF Youth Clubs, and potential
new clubs - To develop materials to support activism/organiser training and community
organising work of the foundation.
Duties and responsibilities
To develop an appropriate youth activist education and training programme for
the AKF youth clubs;
To run workshops, short courses and tours to support activist skills and
intellectual development of members
To develop tools and materials to support youth club’s campaigns and projects
To develop an induction programme for the youth clubs and their members;
To organise a youth activism library (books, movies, training manuals etc) and
encourage members to read, learn and produce materials such as articles and
other forms of creative expression
To organise regular youth camps with the members and leaders of the youth
clubs;
Establish and manage relationships with people and organisations doing youth
activism development work and where possible forge a relationship to
capacitate our members
Work closely with all other programmes in the AKF, to mutually reinforce their
work and youth activism programme.
To keep abreast of all policies, programmes and information relevant to youth
development and activism.
Skills and knowledge required
Knowledge of social justice issues and youth activism, a qualification in
Education, Politics, and/or social sciences is advantageous
Self-motivated and driven with a proactive approach to problem solving
Good administrative, analytical, writing, facilitation and presentation skills
Experience in education, organising and training methods (Popular education
experience is advantageous)
Ability to lead projects and programmes with good organisational and planning
skills
Ability to write proposals, reports and pay attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure and multi task
Computer skills (word, excel, PowerPoint) and other virtual platforms like
zoom, teams etc
Interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people across diverse
backgrounds
Ability to work well independently and in a team
Create, maintain and develop working relationships with colleagues and
external partners
A valid driver’s licence is preferable
General
Keep abreast of all political and social developments relevant to work of the
foundation.
Be familiar with the history of the founder of the foundation and in SA history in
general.
Represent the Foundation in various public and civil society meetings
Qualifications required:
The applicant must have relevant qualifications in the education/training, social
sciences, development fields and/or experience in social justice
initiatives/organizations.
12 Month Contract- R15000 per month
Full time, Office based.
