Joburg Crisis Alliance

It all started when…
Concerned citizens got together in June 2023 to deliberate on the impact of the frequent changes in the leadership of the City of Johannesburg. This ‘Coalition Chaos’ prompted the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation to convene a Summit of residents on 7 July 2023 to plot a way forward to address the many crises facing the City. At the 2nd Summit held on 7 October 2023, the Joburg Crisis Alliance was established with OUTA, Defend our Democracy, The Joburg Inner-City Partnership and Action-For-Accountability stepping forward as convening organizations. As at 2024 the JCA is an emerging alliance that is gradually building a civic movement that aims to arrest the decline and create a safe and prosperous Joburg for all.
