The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation together with the Nelson Mandela Foundation spearhead the Anti-Racism Network South Africa (ARNSA).ARNSA was formed in November 2015 to tackle issues of race and combat racism. The network is comprised of some 60 organisations who share a common goal of eradicating racism.ARNSA has initiated Anti-Racism Week, which is held annually from 14-21 March. It culminates on Human Rights Day and the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.The purpose of the week is to create public awareness of racism and how it affects individuals and broader South African society and to empower communities and individuals to take action to challenge racism. The are various activities that individuals, communities, organisations, schools, faith based institutions, sports clubs and the business sector can organise or participate in during the week to #TakeOnRacism .
