New site secured for the Foundation

A sod turning ceremony will be held on 28 August at the site that has been earmarked for the construction of a centre for the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation.
The extensive site, which was made available to the Foundation by the Gauteng Province, is located on the corner of Lenasia Drive and Flamingo Street in Lenasia.

June 16th commemoration

The 1860 Legacy Foundation, in partnership with the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation and the Tamil Federation Gauteng, held a June 16th commemoration to celebrate our youth. The event included  visits to the gravesites of Viliamma and Nagappen and the Hector Petersen Museum.

Lecture at UWC’s Centre for Humanities Research

The UWC Centre for Humanities Research and the Mayibuye Archives hosted a lecture by Ahmed Kathrada on 9 March 2010. 

Titled “Building the archives of the liberation struggle” the lecture included a talk by Helen Joannides on the Ahmed Kathrada Collection which is held at the Mayibuye Archives.
